Born into a modest family, Elh Ahamadou Bab Makka began in business at the age of 12. After several ventures (small trade, exporting kola nuts to Saudi Arabia), he specialised in organising the pilgrimage (Hajj and Umrah). In 1999 he founded Bab Makka Travel Agency, of which he is the CEO.
Achievements
- Over 40,000 pilgrims taken between 2000 and 2025 (184 pilgrims in the very first year)
- Recognised leader of the Hajj and Umrah sector in Niger
- Principal shareholder of Niger Airways
- Social works: building mosques, wells and a major borehole in Djiballé (over 300 million FCFA), ending 60 years of water shortage in his home village
Approach
Elh Ahamadou Bab Makka applies the principles of Islamic Sharia in his business and personal activities, a commitment that contributed to his success and distinction in the sector.
Charitable and family legacy
The Djiballé borehole, offered as sadaqa jariya (continuing charity) for his parents, is now maintained by his children after his passing. The founder leaves behind two wives and 24 children (13 sons and 11 daughters).
